Defend My Future

How much longer can we stand aside, and allow this to continue? The planet grows hotter each day – these permanent scars will burden my generation and generations to come. Fascists dismantle our democracy – their long struggle for power pollutes the very heart of our system. And, it is more than the 3 blue seats we’ve just lost, but the moderate red seats are falling to these extremists as well. Republicans seize power, no longer to advance a political agenda based on thoughtful policy, but now, simply to attack the “other side.” They’re targeting the rights of women; they’re targeting the rights of the LGBTQIA community; and they’re targeting the rights of BIPOC. Why, to make a better future? No. As is the foundation of every facism movement, they seek power for one reason: to maintain control. From their point of view, they are better, wiser, and more deserving because “God Himself” has ordained these Nationalists to be the sole authority on Earth. 

The incremental, collaborative politics of yesterday must be replaced today by radical change to meet the challenges of these undeniable threats. I’m running for Utah Democratic Party Chair to act bold and swift. The time is now to defend my future.
